Silvia Ribeiro from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, started her athletic career in swimming when she was only 5 years old. After trying Gymnastics and Ballet, she started playing volleyball in Sao Paulo. She played professionally for EC Pinheiros from 1994 to 2000.
Silvia started her career as a model during her college years in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where she was spotted by a scout on the street. Her career took off fast and she started travelling and working in Mexico City, Miami, Paris, Hamburg, Cape Town, Barcelona, New York and Milan.
Her recipe for keeping up with all that travelling and working while maintaining the rigid physical standards of the fashion industry was simple: sport. Being constantly on the road and always in different places with strict schedules brought Silvia closer to running and spin classes, which ultimately led her to swimming and finally triathlon.
Silvia raced her first triathlons during the 2011 modeling season in Miami. She progressed from sprint and Olympic distance to Ironman. Her favorite is the half Iron distance where she had her best results, earning her two top15 finishes at Ironman 70.3 Miami.
